Hey thanks for adding me. Looks like you have a good project with your BMW. I used to have a white 320i back in the 80s. I really liked that car and I'd like to own another bimmer someday.

Ok , I have been looking for a electric fan that will work, not having much luck. Of course if I had unlimited funds I could go with dual fans but for 400.00 bucks nope not gonna happen. I don't think a junk yard fan will work now that I have been looking. I don't have but 2" clearance.
Now its back to a new idea, try and get a non-clutch fan to bolt up, everyone tells me that the BMW bolt pattern won't match up with any after market type, I got to see for myself so I am going today with fan in hand to see if I can make the holes line up at the parts store......
Wish me luck......

Good Evening, Well just to follow up on the bimmer, I removed the radiator in order to get the fan off, man what a job! the bottom radiator hose clamp is surrounded by two electrical connections and the AC unit, then once its loose it won't slide out without you being a contortionist or with some help, which I did not have. Finnaly though it was out and I could remove the fan, well evrything I read on the" inter web" said the screw was reverse thread. Well I think that meant only the screw on clutches not the bolt on. A 1980 has 1 or the other. Anyway quess what? Yep, I broke the bolt off trying to loosen it by tightening it. Well thats where I stand, I am currently searching for a electric fan from a junk yard, I think I can make a ford taurus type work, I will let you know. Later all ......

Greetings, Well all weekend long over the holidays(labor day) I have been working on the OL bimmer, it is a struggle, they are good cars but someone needs to go to germany (Bavaria)? and woop someones butt!! Why do they make everything so difficult? I'm just sayin, I think a little more thought should have went into the location of almost eveything that needs to be attended to by the owner, trust me you don't want to hear the list.Anyway after saying all that (Venting)
I have made some progress in losing the clutch fan altogether and converting to a total electric fan cooling system, had to stop work though one of my other vehicles(Ford) ha ha needed some attention. More later. Take it easy!!!!!
